We travel from LA to Chicago mostly on our travels along the Mother Road, and on some occasions, we would divert from Edmond (Oklahoma City) and head off to Nashville via, Memphis. For us, sometimes we don't mind flying home from Atlanta, Georgia, instead of Chicago, our route will mean we wiss out on St. Louis and beyond, but, there's always next time, right? As you can see from the map above, we leave Edmond, after seeing POPs Arcadia at night, and head down to Memphis, where we would stay a couple of nights, Our route would normally take us via Checotah and Little Rock before staying in Graceland, From there, we have an overnight stay in Jackson before heading on to Nashville.
We are not suggesting in any way that this in the only route to take, this is based on our experience and by the way we travel.
Dave, the Boss, is a Huge Garth Brooks Fan, so our Route 66 Travels will always take us to Yukon, Oklahoma, the Birthplace and family home of Garth. Now Garth has his own bar in Nashivlle.. Say no more
How can we not hit Route 66 in it's centennial year? SO 2026 is now in the planning stages and will be a little different to our usual travels, as per the plan, we will begin our Journey by flying into San Francisco (car Hire is cheaper this way) and head off to Yosemite for about 3 days. From Yosemite, instead of travelling down the PCH, we will head inland to Bakersfield, which will take us around 4 hours, From there, our travel on Route 66 will begin by heading off to Barstow via Victorville and Helendale, There's no way we are going to go and see Elmers Bottle Tree Ranch! We have visited Santa Monica so many times already, so really don't mind missing it on this occasion.
From Barstow, it's the usual route for us as we head to Needles via Amboy, we carry on on Route 66 to Williams AZ, and from there we will head off to the Grand Canyon, Page and Monument Valley before heading back to Winslow and continuing all the way in to Tulsa, we have not seen Stella Atom yet, so this is why we begin our journey to Nashville from Tulsa. Yes, we could of diverted from Oklahoma City, but when there is a new attraction on 66, we have to go see it. So we leave 66 at Tulsa and our Journey will see us head to Conway, Jackson, and Memphis, of course, before heading for a Pint at the Friends in Low Places Bar in Nashville,
