Travelling Route 66 with a bag load of camera equipment is, to say the least, quite challenging and sometime frustrating, find a location, park up if you can, get out, pic a lens, take a photo or 12, back in the bag, get in the car, buckle up and drive 10 mins then repeat, ok so thats the frustrating but and we admit sometmes when you are shooting so many locations, it's quite tempting to just open the window of the car and snap away.
Remember though, you have travelled so many miles to get these images and you want to achieve the best you can get. take a breath, get out the car, have a walk around and soon you'll be back in pro mode ready to grab that image, Route 66 photography takes a lot of planning, alot! trying to watch you tube videos and reading books to discover the best places to take a shot.
Here below in PDF format is our gude, ready made for you with most of the best Route66 attractions and points of interest ready for you, we say most as Route 66 throws many suprises your way and that's what we loved about photographing the Route, you'll frive to a POI and suddenly you'll stumble upon something that hasnt appeared on Facebook or Pintrest, something that no one else has posted about, and you'll think to yourself. "Why hasnt anyone posted this" then you'll grab that unique shot and suddenly all that frustratin just goes away and that what Route 66 photography is all bout, it's a journey of discovery, sure you'll take the piuctures that everyone else has taken, sometimes the light will not be so good and you arent able to capture that image that you have processed so many times in your head, but don't let this frustrate you, just take it! You will find so many things on the route to photograph come rain or shine, in the Blue housr, the golden hour, rememebr, there is nothhing you can do about the weather, so get out there and enjoy exploring, create new angles, create an image for yourself, be the photographer that you can be out there and take a shed load of memory card with you.
